Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said: “Turkey has received an agreement from the United Arab Emirates on land transport and they have taken advantage of it.”
Responding to questions about relations with Qatar and good relations with the United Arab Emirates, Çavuşoğlu said that Turkey’s relations with the Gulf states have always been good, “the normalization of Turkish relations with the UAE already has an impact.
He explained that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the United Arab Emirates next February would add a new impetus to those relations, adding, “Regional tensions between the United Arab Emirates and Iran have been reflected in relations, but despite this we have seen an increase in investment.”
“We had the opportunity to sign a land transport agreement with Turkey from the United Arab Emirates. We took advantage of it. , Because this land transport currently comes through Iran.
“When we do the calculations, any ship currently sailing from Istanbul to the UAE takes 25 to 28 days by sea, but it takes 10 days by land. However, most of this time is spent on customs clearance,” he said. .
The Minister further said, “This time should be reduced, so that after signing such an agreement, it can be signed at the bilateral level. We welcome it. We are now negotiating. We want to. Sign this agreement.” The agreement is in line with the president’s visit to the United Arab Emirates next February.
He further added that they were motivated by the desire to reduce that time via the Iraq route, adding that the time could be reduced if the railway and road projects were implemented.
