The fourth edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival kicked off yesterday in Morocco, with 34 films participating in two competitions for long and short films.
Egyptian actress Hala Sedgi and actor Khaled El Sawy, actress Fatima Harandi “Ravia” and Moroccan director Hisham El Azri and Tunisian director Reda El Bahi were honored at the ceremony.
After the ceremony, Moroccan director Mohamed Moftaker’s first feature-length film “Al-Buraq” was shown, and after 13 years of production he repeated the montage process to present the film with a new perspective. .
As part of the Arabic language, the festival sees the notable participation of several Emirati films, including the short film “Beyond Salma” directed by Maryam Al Sergal and Maria Saeed, the film “The Apartment” directed by Mohamed Badr. Panorama Movies Project. Emirati director Nujum Al-Khanem was also selected as part of the jury for the film competition, headed by Tunisian director Reda Al-Bahi. In addition to the official competitions, the festival will show 21 films in the Arab panorama, in particular the Syrian film “Al-Hakim” by Duraid Laham, the Tunisian film “The Flower of Aleppo” by Hind Sabri and the Egyptian film “19B” by Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sayed.
Twelve films will also be shown (Moroccan Panorama), including the documentary “School of Hope” by director Muhammad Al-Aboudi and the novel “Enough is Enough” by director Mohsen Al-Basri.
The official competition events will be held at the Mohamed Jefsaf Cultural Complex and the Panorama events at the Cultural Center of Sabata and the Cultural Center of Sidi Belyaut.
The festival, which runs till June 23, includes workshops for youth and amateurs.
