The number of new hotel rooms opened in Dubai since the start of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has reached around 13,000 new hotel rooms, according to data released by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

According to data obtained by Emirates Today, the number of hotel rooms in Dubai increased from 127.8 thousand hotel rooms at the end of February 2020 to 140.7 thousand hotel rooms at the end of May 2022, while the number of hotel establishments increased from 745 hotel facilities at the end of February 2020 to 772 facilities at the end of May 2022.

At the end of May 2022, luxury five-star hotel rooms accounted for 34% of the total hotel market in Dubai, with 48,3,000 hotel rooms booked across 148 hotel establishments, followed by four-star hotel rooms at 29%. 40.5 thousand hotel rooms in 181 hotel companies.

For its part, hotels classified as “three stars” and “one star” account for about 19% of the total hotel market volume, with more than 26.2 thousand hotel rooms within 252 hotel facilities.

In addition, the number of hotel apartments exceeded a total of 25.6 thousand apartments within 191 facilities, gaining 18% of the hotel market.
