Dubai: “Gulf”
Each of us has a role to play in being part of the solution to the Global Plan for Sustainable Development Goals, to reduce inequalities, increase prosperity, protect the planet and create a sustainable future for all by 2030.
Expo 2020 Dubai, 2022 to 2022 It is time to get inspired to act and participate in change as the world unites during the Global Goal Week which will be held in collaboration with the United Nations.
You can begin the journey of creating change with the following ten steps:
1. Eat vegetables
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), meat, milk and cheese account for about 14.5 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Eating less vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds and less meat, milk and cheese can reduce your environmental impact and improve your health. Producing plant foods in general reduces greenhouse gas emissions and requires less energy, land and water. If you are looking for inspiration, check out the first vegetarian festival in the Middle East, which runs until January 30 at the Expo 2020 Dubai Festival Garden, showcasing the region’s most delicious vegetarian cuisine.
2. Energy saving at home
According to the United Nations, nearly two-thirds of greenhouse gas emissions are associated with private homes. We produce most of our electricity and heat from coal or oil and gas, so we can reduce energy consumption by switching to cooling or heating, LED lights and energy efficient appliances, or washing clothes in cold water. Or let the clothes dry instead of using a clothes dryer. If possible try to use renewable energy sources such as wind or solar energy.
3. Walking, bike or public transport
Walking or cycling as much as possible can improve your health and fitness, so your efforts will reduce the use of vehicles that burn gasoline or diesel. For longer distances, you can use the metro, bus or train or use the car sharing option as much as possible. If you are planning to buy a car, you can choose an electric car because electric cars help reduce air pollution and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to petrol or diesel vehicles.
4. Reduce food waste
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), one-third of the world’s food production is wasted, equivalent to 1.3 billion tons of food wasted each year. When you dispose of food, you are wasting the resources and energy used to grow, produce, package and transport it. When food rots in landfills, it turns into methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. We therefore recommend that you use what you buy and compost the rest.
5. Shop emotionally
All the money we spend affects the planet, so it is important to shop carefully. We recommend that you purchase local and seasonal foods, choose products from companies that use resources wisely and responsibly, and make sure to minimize gas and waste emissions to minimize environmental impact.
6. Strategy reduction, reuse, repair and recycling strategy
The electronics, clothing and other products we buy emit carbon at every stage of production, from raw material extraction to production and transportation of goods to market. We recommend a strategy that saves money, energy and natural resources, such as buying less, buying used items, repairing and recycling.
7. Take special visitor tours from Expo 2020
Within the luxury of choosing from the 20 customized and self-guided visitor tours available through the Expo 2020 Dubai processor, there are plenty of options that will motivate you to become an agent of change. Examples include the “Food for the Future” visitor tour; It showcases common solutions, innovations and experiences from around the world, reveals what we should eat and how we should eat, and provides “People for Planet Earth” tour routes and methods to protect the planet and protect the planet. To reduce our impact on the world ..
8. Visit the Terra – Stability Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai
The Terra Pavilion, one of Expo 2020 Dubai’s signature experiences, will take you on an in-depth journey through the wonders of the natural world, inspiring you to design a cleaner, healthier and safer future. This fun experience is designed to motivate the audience to understand their impact on the environment and to become change makers, highlighting the urgent need to address negative environmental impacts.
9. Pledge in the world of opportunity – the wing of opportunity
Expo 2020 Dubai revives sustainable development goals in the Opportunity Pavilion – World of Opportunities. The Pavilion illustrates how a small change can have a multiplier effect and how we can amplify that effect through our collaborative work. The visitor experience ends with the Pledge Room, which is an inverted “through the clouds” space in which the audience is asked to take an action-oriented approach that will make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others. Pledges will then be transferred to the “garden” exhibition space on the roof of the room.
